EventSheets is a purpose-built system for creating and running events of every kind. It lets an organiser create an event and manage almost all of it from inside the site — from setting the event up, stage by stage, through to issuing certificates to those who attended and took part. It also lets everyone else browse the events it holds and pick the ones that suit them, whether to attend or to contribute.

I invite organisers to begin adding their own events, so that they can manage them themselves and make use of what is already available — receiving contributions through the site among it — and then to tell us of anything they notice: a fault, a gap, or a suggestion.

The site's founder

Professor Abdulaziz bin Humaid Alhomaid — Professor of Philology and Lexicography at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, where he served from teaching assistant in 1984 through to full professor. He was Vice-Dean of the College of Arabic Language for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Head of the Department of Grammar, Morphology and Philology.

His experience of running academic events is first-hand. He chaired the academic committee of the conference Arabic in International Organisations, held by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, and has taken part in twenty-two seminars and conferences across nine countries — as organiser, as reviewer and as contributor.

This site came out of that experience. The effort that goes into attendance lists, into certificates written out one at a time, and into email threads where submissions get lost — that is what EventSheets was built to do away with.

EventSheets was preceded by another platform, VoiceofArabic, which won the award of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.
